Fluency can be a problem exhibited irrespective of age. Lack of fluency can hinder the confidence in any individual. Sometimes people can have problems in fluency with their own native language. The reason for the lack of fluency can vary from an inferiority complex to a poor self esteem.
There may also be some physiological aspect to it such as an improper coordination in the muscles of the tongue and the mouth region. Even if there are no physiological problems many people find it hard in developing proper fluency.
Some of the methods and techniques for developing the fluency can be outlined in the following ways:
Phonetics forms the base:
Most of the development in the pronunciation and fluency occurs by learning the sounds of each word. The process that deals with the sounds of each letter is known as phonetics. Phonetics also helps a person to have a knowledge about the proper alignment of the tongue and the lips while pronouncing or speaking each word.
Read a lot of literature:
One of the best ways of developing the fluency and improving the language is by reading a lot of books and materials such as novels and self help books. The habit of reading can make the brain accustomed to the language. The process of constant reading can help in sinking the material or the literature into the deeper parts of the mind.
These materials which sink into the deeper parts of the mind can always help when you are out of words or confused about what to speak.
Practise Tongue Twisters:
There are many tongue twisters that consist of simple words but are really hard to speak in a flow. One can practise these tongue twisters at any time with leisure. These twisters can give a thorough exercise to the mouth and also help in the development of fluency.
