Creating interest
The most exciting place that kids show interest in going for is parks. Its better to take them to parks and start initially with a walk. Kids are generally interested in playing games which involve running. Parents can help them by creating interest in running.Kids will be more interested if parents also play along with them. Support your kids by encouraging them to participate in the activities in school.
Warm up
- Begin with some warm-up exercises and then start the run with a moderate speed. Do not try to run for a long distances at the initial stages of your run. This is more likely to cause injury. Initially, start with short run which helps to loosen up muscles.
- Warm up is necessary before and after the run.
Stretching
Stretching helps runners stay flexible. Stretching after the run helps in relieving body pains.Its advised not to do stretching when muscles are cold. Try walking or cycling just before you run. It is important to do warm up along with jogging. Its is advisable not to rush during warm up. Feel comfortable while stretching.
If one of the parents is runner then the best way to create interest in your kid towards running is take your kid to your race. Ask them to watch your race. They might notice you competing with others in the race, and experience your excitement. This is the one of the best ways you can create interest in your kid for running.
There are certain kids who think of running without any physical exercises, which is not recommended in general. There are many other programs for kids like swimming,tennis etc, especially in summer. This also creates interest in running as they find other kids running and they get new friends as well.
