Typically, there are two types of bras. They are the
- Pullover or compression style
- Separating encapsulation style
For example, if your top priority is to have adequate support without any bounce, pullover type sports bras work best for you especially, when your cup size is either A or B. This style is used for compression or flattening of the chest, to provide no-bounce support. However, compressive support doesn’t work too well if your breasts are larger than B.
The encapsulation style ensures proper support and prevents your breasts from bouncing, in case you are a C cup and up sized woman. This helps in medium-high levels of vertical movement because the breasts are managed separately. An added benefit to the encapsulation style is that you don’t have to do away with contour. Normally an encapsulation style has adjustable back clasps and shoulder straps. This ensures comfortable wearing.
The following are the general guidelines for finding a suitable sports bra:
Know your size and adjust accordingly
Get your breast size measured properly. Accept your breast size gracefully and strictly choose a bra that suits your actual breast size. Never go for a higher size for mere fancy reasons.
Wrong style
Running activity involves lot of vertical movements. Wear a bra that is in accordance with your body structure and cup size. Other factors that play a crucial role are the length of your torso and rib cage measurement.
Wash carefully
Wash your sports bra manually as far as possible. Never go for machine washing. The bra which is washed and dried manually lasts twice as long as a bra which is machine washed. Usually a hand washed bra lasts for one full year whereas a machine washed bra lasts only for six months.
One final Advice:
Wear the band as tight as possible, taking adequate care that your breathing is not affected in the process. Apart from tightening the bands even tightening the shoulder straps also helps you to an extent.
