Technical fabrics (high performance fabrics designed mainly for sports related activities) are quite useful for running as they wick away sweat. But sometimes the bacteria are trapped in theses fabrics. These trapped bacteria cause smell.
The following measures are recommended for removing odd and unpleasant smells from your running cloths:
- Add a bit of baking soda to your running clothes and let your clothes stay just like that overnight. When you wake in the morning you will be surprised to notice that your clothes will be devoid of all the odd odours.
- Soak your running clothes in a solution containing water and Arm and Hammer Super washing Soda. Immerse your clothes deeply. Now let your clothes dry. For this you can make use of the pre-soak setting on the washing machine or do the same in separate container. Then wash and use.
- The popularly available plain white vinegar is an excellent remover of smell from your running clothes. Soak your clothes in a solution of vinegar (around two cups of vinegar in 8 litres of water) for an hour or so. Deeply immerse your clothes. Let your clothes dry. That’s it. You will be surprised to sense no more odours in your running clothes.
- Use a specialized detergent such as Win High Performance sport detergent. These detergents only remove the odours but also keep the sweat-wicking or water-repellent properties of your running clothes intact.
- Odour resistant running clothes are also available in the market. These clothes are worth going for. These clothes help you in remaining dry and odor-free. Though expensive, these are proved to be quite comfortable and efficient in energy conservation during running, when compared to normal clothes.
