Acid reflux is a condition where the stomach acid passes through the opening of the stomach and goes all the way back to the esophagus. In some cases it may even travel to the mouth and the throat. This is the connection between the acid reflux and the bad breath.
Brushing, flossing and rinsing the mouth will only clear the food particles that get decayed and cause bad breath. Brushing and flossing cannot prevent the bad breath caused by the acid flux. The stomach acids when travels all the way to the throat, it coats the breath with the acids and causes halitosis
The stomach itself has a bad odor and the process of food breaking down contributes to the problem. These stomach acids carry the odor of the food particles in the stomach. The chemical process involved in the digestion of the food is responsible for causing bad breath.
