Here are some ways of self hypnosis which can help you.
Auto-questioning. This is done in a very quiet spot of your home. You are going to talk to yourself – seriously and honestly. Ask your self why you smoke, what are the benefits and drawbacks of it, and should you quit.
Write down the answers.Question yourself as to what techniques you are ready to take up to quit smoking and what you can do about the habit.
Devise a plan that will help you stay away from smoking.
Formulate suggestions. Now you are going to communicate to your subconscious mind via a repitition of good suggestions.
These suggestions must make sense to you and you must be able to believe them at an emotional level. Two or three suggestions about why you don’t want to smoke cigarettes and why you are not going to smoke anymore should suffice.
This will help boost your confidence to a great extent and will go a long way in motivating you, everytime you want to quit.
Auto-suggestions.These are affirmative statements that you should keep giving yourself. For eg you can say to yourself
” I can do it. I can quit smoking” , ” I am not going to smoke”, ” Quitting smoking is not a tough job” .
You must make a very deliberate, unwavering effort every morning, afternoon, and evening to repeat your suggestions over and over again. Turn off the radio in your car and repeat them while you are driving. Schedule time at home to do nothing but sit and repeat your suggestions. Let these statements sink in your subconscious. Make this a habit. These autosuggestions empower your will power.
Emotion internalizes repeated statements. Your suggestions will get through to your subconscious mind faster if you can attach emotion to them while repeating them as often as possible. But do keep repeating them even when you can’t muster the emotion.
Say it out aloud. Do not view quitting as a negative aspect. Associate it with something positive. For eg
“If I quit smoking I can Kiss my girlfriend a real hard french kiss. My mouth will stop stinking and my girl friend may want me to kiss her more”
“If I quit smoking, I can spend the time that I previously spent for smoking, alone in the alley, with my children”
After 2-3 weeks of an honest, all-out auto-suggestion campaign guess what? You won’t want to smoke anymore. So do it- it will be easier than smoking at this point.
