    The Truth about Smokers “I Am Trying to Quit”

    The truth about smokers is that no matter how hard they try it is very difficult to give up smoking. Nicotine addiction makes it difficult for the body to quit smoking. In other words, with frequent smoking the body becomes used to a certain level of nicotine which when denied can cause nicotine withdrawal and recovery symptoms.

    Depression, irritability and hunger pangs are the most common and initial nicotine withdrawal symptoms. In severe cases, the smoker undergoes uncontrolled nicotine withdrawal and recovery symptoms that include nausea, headaches, insomnia, constipation, etc.

    The following are some revealing facts about how difficult it is for smokers to quit smoking:

    • Nicotine releases the dopamine chemical in the brain which causes a euphoric feeling. The dependency created for this feeling is known as addiction. Nicotine cravings therefore make it very difficult for smokers to quit smoking.
    • The brain being devoid of the nicotine can be adversely affected to undergo severe depression.
    • Smokers feel that they have lost reason to do any other useful function with their hands and are often confused about using them for doing some other work.
    • Holding a cigarette between the fingers and lighting it becomes an order of the day and smokers feel absolutely bored and useless without smoking.
    • Anything around can create the slightest urge for the smokers to light a cigarette again.
    • Cigarettes are smoker’s best friend. Smoking make smokers feel relaxed and comforted. In other words, cigarettes play a vital social role in sharing the highs and lows of a person. So giving up smoking would mean the loss of a dearest friend for a smoker.

    These are the hurdles that most quitters face when they decide to quit smoking. The truth about smokers therefore reveals how difficult it is for the smokers to really quit smoking. Start successfully by having the intention to quit smoking first of all. Then engage in techniques to reduce your physical and psychological needs on cigarettes.
