The National Institute On Drug Abuse reveals that about 25% of teenagers are regular users of marijuana or have tried it sometime. If you have a child or teen you may be worried by this news. Read on to know how to identify if your teen is a marijuana user.
Red Eyes
A common sign is bloodshot or red eyes. Your teen may say this is due to allergy. Is he/she using eye drops regularly? Is your teen wearing sunglasses even indoors to hide his/her eyes? This may be because he/she wants to avoid exposing his/her red eyes to you.
Sudden Hunger
Unexplained sudden hunger is another sign of marijuana use. Does your teen eat potato chips, sandwiches or other snacks at odd hours? Smoking weed may make your teen very hungry. Eating munchies can also result in weight gain.
Uncaring Attitude
Is your teen slipping in school grades? Is he/she starting to ignore sports and other activities? Is he/she skipping school and spending much less time with his/her friends? Smoking weed may be the cause, as it can give users an apathetic attitude towards life.
Is Your Teen Spaced Out?
Is your teen behaving like he/she is spaced out? Does he/she find it difficult to concentrate? Is he/she forgetting things and having trouble conversing? These may be signs that he/she is using marijuana.
Social Withdrawal
Is your teen spending a lot of time alone? Is he/she refusing to tell you where he/he is spending the unaccounted for time? Has he/she become socially withdrawn and refusing to participate in family activities? These are also warning signs.
Missing Money
Do you find money missing from the places where you usually keep it? Your teen may have started stealing to buy drugs.
Marijuana Smell
The smell of Marijuana is unique. You may be able to recognize it, if you have been to rock concerts. Smell your teen’s clothes. Go to his/her room and check if there is a strange smell.
