Marijuana users are always on the lookout for loopholes in the law to smoke the drug in peace. Many marijuana smokers dream of visiting or living in countries where marijuana use is legal. Even if is not legal, in some countries rules are so lax that marijuana smokers can get away with it easily.
The Netherlands
Perhaps the most famous country with relaxed marijuana laws is Holland. And, this country has achieved recognition and fame for its legalization of marijuana use.
Argentina
Recently, a court decided in favor of making marijuana legal if used in small quantities. A leading Argentinean judge even ruled that it was against the constitution to ban marijuana possession. So, in Argentina, you can buy and grow marijuana in small quantities. The country also notably supports many programs related to medical use of marijuana.
Australia
Marijuana rules differ from state to state in this country. But, marijuana use is not completely legalized. But, Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania, Southern Australia and Western Australia have decriminalized marijuana use to a certain extent. In Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania, police have started to ticket marijuana users possessing less than 50 grams of the drug. But, there is no arrest. In Southern and Western Australia, police will fine you on the spot for minor possession. But, again there are no official arrests or warnings.
Belgium
In Belgium, marijuana possession and use are legal if the following conditions are followed:
- The amount should be less than five grams.
- You should be be above 18 years of age.
- You should not smoke with minors around.
- You should not smoke in public.
Colombia
In Colombia, it is not illegal to possess a gram of heroin or cocaine, or 20 grams of marijuana. But, such lax rules may change, since the government is becoming more conservative and may toughen the laws to combat drug culture.
Nepal
Nepal is on this list, because drug laws are rarely enforced. Marijuana is widely used in Nepal, even by holy men. Possession and use of marijuana are rarely punished, even if they are illegal. You can most probably get away by paying a small bribe to the police.
