Smokers are not happy, although they derive much pleasure from smoking as they are nicotine addicts. Why are they so?
Why Smokers are Unhappy?
- Most smokers smoke because they try to escape from the harsh realities of life. They find life stressful. They are basically unhappy with their life situation. Smoking only provides relief. It does not solve their problems. At heart they remain unhappy
- It is an expensive habit. Cigarettes are expensive and many find it difficult to afford. The smoker is not happy about doling out much money. Those who have family commitments might find this an expensive habit. Those who belong to the lower socio-economic sections of the society will find it difficult to afford such an expensive habit
- Most of them smoke because they are habituated to it. It is not whether it makes them happy, it is because they need their nicotine intake
- Smoking causes health problems, which in turn makes the smoker feel unhappy
- Peer pressure also makes a difference whether smoking is good or bad. Many people who do not smoke tend to keep away from smokers. Even within the family secondhand smoke can prove to be harmful to other members of the family, particularly children. A sense of isolation can be felt by a smoker as nonsmokers tend to avoid them. Even in a family scenario, secondhand smoke is considered to be harmful to those who do not smoke, particularly children
Smokers no doubt enjoy smoking, but most of the time they do so because they are habituated to it. They have strong need to smoke as their body is addicted to nicotine. Most of the time they smoke to cover up their feelings or deficiencies.

Your right on smokers are unhappy. But I didn’t start because my friends were, my friends didn’t even know I smoked I hid my smoking. I was a loner, shy, and backwards. I did enjoy smoking it was my best friend. I’m 46 1/2 years now, before I finally quit I did start to realize that I was missing alot of my family time going outside smoking and my children and grandchildren were inside. They would never say nothing but when you travel over 700 miles to visit with them every miniute counts. And now, I’m not a loner, shy, nor am I backwards, but I do know its a habit for sure.
