What is Fatty Liver?
As the name suggests, it is a fat accumulated liver. Through the process of steatosis, large vacuoles of triglyceride fats get accumulate in the liver cells. Despite having multiple causes, obesity and excessive alcohol intake are considered as the main causes for fatty liver.

Untreated fatty liver can cause inflammation and give severe pain, this is called as fatty liver disease. According to the doctors and health experts, the disease is completely reversible through certain changes in diet and life style.
Causes of Fatty Liver Disease
Fatty liver is usually associated with metabolic syndrome or alcohol. It can be caused due to any of the following causes
Metabolic
Abetalipoproteinemia, Weber-Christian disease, Glycogen storage diseases, Wolman disease, Lipodystrophy , Acute fatty liver of pregnancy
Nutritional
Malnutrition, Severe weight loss, Refeeding syndrome, Total parenteral nutrition, Gastric bypass, Jejuno-ileal bypass, and Jejunal diverticulosis
Medication
Amiodarone, Diltiazem, Methotrexate, Glucocorticoids, Highly active antiretroviral therapy, Tamoxifen and Environmental hepatotoxins (e.g.,mushroom poisoning, phosphorus)
Symptoms of Fatty Liver
Often the fatty liver patients are asymptomatic. It is hard to know that the symptoms are caused due fatty liver because, the common symptoms include coated tongue, bad breath, tiredness, dizziness, circles under the eyes, feeling bloated at all times and headaches. So it becomes hard to specify that these are the symptoms caused by fatty liver. The best way to identify the fatty liver is by regular diagnosis.
