When we sleep for less than 8 hours, our body stores more ‘Ghrelin'(hormone for our food craving). It can lower the Leptin (hormone that makes us feel full after eating). This craving leads to over eating and fattening. This is the reason new moms find it hard to lose weight and all those working in night shifts also gain weight. Obesity can also occur due to bad sleeping habits.
The National Sleep Foundation states, More than 60% of US Americans sleep for less than 8 hours. And you will be amazed to know that this number also coincides with the number of obese in America. Weekend sleeping cannot patch your sleeplessness throughout the weekdays.
