    Potato Fast — How to Go About it?

    Potato fast is eating only potatoes for the whole day for 2 to 4 days. They can be baked, steamed, mashed, juiced and roasted but never fried. The fast is a great way to detox the body but one can lose about 10 pounds of weight. Please note that it is better to consult health care provider before taking up any fast and potato fast is not an exception. In this article, we will give you a brief procedure on how to go about a potato fast.

    Here are a few things that you need to understand about the potato fast:

    • As you have to take nothing but potatoes whole day, you must be careful enough to choose good quality potatoes. Choose organically grown potatoes that are small in size but heavy in weight. Avoid discolored potatoes that have brown, dry skin or green spots on the peels.
    • As explained already, you can have any dish of potatoes except for the fried potatoes. To increase the taste you can season them with mint, turmeric, nutmeg, rosemary, garlic, fennel and cumin.
    • You can also have potato juice or teas with potato powders. But never add milk in tea made of potato.
    • Do not peel the potatoes. The skin of potato accounts for over 75% of its mineral value. You can use these peel to prepare potato tea. But see that you make best use of potato peels during the fast.
    • During the fast be liberal about drinking water and herbal teas. Taking herbal teas during fasting period can be a great medicine to treat specific ailments that you may be dealing with.
    • Internal bath or enema are useful to clear your colon toxins.
    • Break the fast carefully after the decided time, ie, for 3 or 4 days. Do it by taking vegetables and fruits before taking up normal meals.
    • Check the results of fasting with your doctor or near and dears.
