What is Psoriasis?
Psoriasis is a type of skin disease characterized by red, dry and scaly patches of thickened skin. It is considered as a long term skin condition affects the skin of knees, elbows and scalp. Stress, injury, illness and reactions of certain medications are some of the causes of psoriasis.
Some studies say that excessive fat intake and toxin build ups in the colon are causes of psoriasis. Thus fasting can be cure for psoriasis in 2 ways:
- Fasting can be a good way to rid the excess toxins in the body.
- Fasting also boosts the immune system of the body to fight the disease.
Here is the procedure by which you can try out fasting as a cure to psoriasis:
- Take up juice fast for five days. For that prepare your body in prior by taking only raw fruits and vegetables for 2 days. You can also take fiber supplements before the fast.
- Take a cup of fresh warm water and squeeze one full lemon in to it. Drink this before going to sleep.
- Drink atleast 10 glasses (8 ounces) of steam distilled water everyday.
- As far as possible avoid citrus juices and tomato juice. Juices made of leafy vegetables are ideal in this condition. You can also have fresh fruit juices apple, celery and grapes. Cabbage juice and carrot juice are also recommended.
- Take 2 to 3 cups of herbal tea per day.
- Try taking a supplement (spirulina) with a watermelon to fight hunger during the fast.
- After fast eat only raw foods for a few days. Try taking plenty of vegetables and fruits such as banana, grapes, pears and berries.
Note: If fasting is not a complete cure for psoriasis, it facilitates the cure. It is best to consult your health care provider to check out your physical condition and then take up the process of fasting.
