Prevention of pink eye during pregnancy
- The best way to prevent pink eye is washing hands often with soapy and warm water at all times including during pregnancy.
- Use a clean towel and washcloth to clean your face.
- Don’t share cosmetics or eye drops with others.
- If you are suffering with pink eye infection in one eye only, then be sure to wash your hands after adding eye drops or after touching the affected area.
- While you are caring for infected person, then wear glasses while adding drops and immediately was your hands after touching an affected area.
- Be sure to dispose the cotton balls or tissues which have been used by an infected person.
- Keep the towels, clothes, pillowcases, handkerchiefs, bed sheets, etc of an infected person separately and wash them separate from other family’s laundry. These helps to prevent the contamination from the clothes to other family members.

- Home treatment: One can include cold or warm compressor, to get relief from the symptoms of pink eye. If the pink eye is a result of an allergy then a cold compressor can make you feel better. If the pink eye is a result of an infection, then a warm and moist compressor can help to reduce swelling and redness and soothe the eye. While using a warm and moist compressor make sure to change it after every application and for each eye a different compressor.
