When the eyes are focused on a nearby object for long periods of time, the eye muscles have to work harder to view the object. This can cause eye fatigue. It can also be caused when there is glare due the reflection of light from the computer screen.
Symptoms of Eye Fatigue:

How to Prevent Eye Fatigue?
To prevent eye fatigue and treat eye fatigue:
- While doing activities such as reading book, doing craft work etc., give break to the eyes every 30 minutes by looking at distant objects. You can also close your eyes for several seconds
- The lightning in the room should be adequate, without too much glare
- Blink your eyes regularly while working on computer
- While working on a computer, take a 2 to 3 minute break every 30 minutes; close your eyes for few seconds. Then try to look at a far-away object to rest your eyes
- The computer monitor should be placed slightly lower than your eye level
- You can try keeping the large font size on the computer screen
- Minimize the glare from the computer monitor and reduce the brightness level. You can also use anti-glare screen for your monitor
- Use eye drops or artificial tears to prevent dry eyes
Reducing eye fatigue will improve your productivity and helps you to feel better at the end of the day. So, make sure you blink a lot, rest your eyes and avoid too much brightness, to overcome eye fatigue.
