Carrots are enriched with beta carotene, which is converted into Vitamin A when consumed, by the liver. The main cause of blindness in the world is due to the lack of Vitamin A, but this is a very rare syndrome in the United States of America.

The doctors found out that these reported poor night vision cases were suffering though they consume a lot of carrots. Sad fully, in their case their mother’s myth did not help them.
Although carrots provide our body with a rich dose of Vitamin A, it is not necessary they will improve eye sight, provided you are having a balanced diet.

A healthy balance of Vitamin A in one’s life is quiet essential. Excessive Vitamin A can lead to toxic deaths in some cases while in some you might experience ‘carotenemia'(skin changes to an yellow or orange colour).
The right balance to Vitamin A can be achieved by either by increasing or decreasing your carrot intake. Normally, a healthy balanced diet which includes milk, eggs etc. is rich in Vitamin A.
The United States Department of Agriculture recommends a daily intake of 1300 micrograms of Vitamin A. Upon, consuming one carrot you are almost known to be taking about 5000 micrograms. So, it is not necessary you need to eat carrots everyday.
The health of an eye is not solely dependant on Vitamin A, it also needs some pro-vitamins and iron to maintain it. Body does not need any excessive Vitamin A and too much of it can have it’s effects.
Many claim that carrots also improve night vision. But, even this is not entirely true. Carrots might play a role in maintaining night vision clarity but not necessarily improve the sight in people suffering from night blindness.
Thus, it can be understood that carrots are not an alternative to improve eye sight but are only a provider of the necessary Vitamin required for eye sight.
