    10 Warning Signs of Age-Related Vision Problems

    Age-related vision problems arise when you grow older. Therefore, it is necessary to undergo regular eye check-ups to determine your eye health and condition of your vision. It is an advantage if you know certain warning signs as you can take some appropriate measures to maintain a good and healthy vision. This is helpful in situations where the symptoms may arise suddenly.

    It is important to intervene in the initial stages of an eye complication so as to minimize or avoid permanent vision loss. For example, in cases like a rapid onset of glaucoma or a detached retina. Most of the eye problems frequently occur in older people than in other age groups. Sometimes, these eye diseases can lead to blindness.

    10 Warning Signs of Age-Related Vision Problems

    Some of the symptoms and signs may indicate a medical emergency. You should immediately consult your eye doctor if you experience any of the following symptoms:

    • Floaters or spots in your field of vision: These occur due to an age-related eye condition known as vitreous detachment. The separation of eye’s vitreous from the retina causes this eye condition.
    • Sudden sensation of a dark curtain settling in front of your eyes
    • Sudden vomiting, nausea, redness and eye pain
    • Gradual narrowing of your vision; you can only see straight ahead
    • Gradual loss of central vision which includes distortions like wavy images
    • Halos in the night around lights, loss of vivid color vision and blurred or cloudy vision
    • Blind spots in your field of vision along with eye floaters and blurred vision
    • Tearing in the eye, pain in the eye surface and irritated sensation
    • Double images or double vision
    • Sudden blurred or hazy vision in one eye
