Vertigo is a very unrestrained and uncontrolled disease condition. There are various ayurvedic treatments for vertigo. Vertigo is a balance disorder and commonly known as spinning sensation or head rush. A person suffering from vertigo will experience head spinning and unable to stand in an upright position.
When people think about vertigo, they relate it with dizziness, but there is a little difference between the two. Vertigo is a much serious condition, which can be equated with Bhrama in Sanskrit. Vertigo is commonly called Head rush in the US.
Ayurvedic View of Vertigo
- When raja guna increases beyond its normal limits, it leads to an imbalance in the air and fire body humors.
- It is elaborated as a vata pitta dosha disorder.
- When these doshas get excited, it causes imbalance within the inner ear.
- The main reason of vertigo is vestibular imbalance, which is inner ear imbalance.
- Hence, the result is the person will not able be able to respond properly.
- Any defect in the oxygen flow to the ear can lead to vertigo attacks.
Vertigo Ayurveda Treatment
Some of the ayurvedic treatments for vertigo are as follows –
- Ashwagandha — Pound some roots of Ashwagandha roots to prepare a powder. Take it with 1 teaspoon along with warm milk twice a day.
- Coriander seeds — Pound 1 large teaspoon dry coriander seeds, remove the husk and boil the seeds in one glass of milk. Add some sugar and drink it before going to bed.
- Malkangni — Make powder of Malkangni and take 1 to 2 grams twice for few days.
- Oil massage — Massaging the scalp with Aamla and Brahmi oil is recommended.
- Moong dal — Soak 20 grams Moong dal for a night. Remove the outer skin in the morning and pound it. To this, add 10 grams ghee and 250 ml milk. Remove from fire and add sugar to it. Eat it twice a day.
- Shankhpushpi — Take 50 grams of dried Shankhpushpi. To this, add equal amount of powdered mishri. Take 1 to 2 teaspoon of the mixture twice daily with cow’s milk.
