Boils are painful, pus filled swellings formed in the skin. These boils are caused due to accumulation of bacteria Staphylococcus. There are various cure for the boils problem in Ayurveda. People who suffer from skin rupture or eczema problems are often vulnerable to boils or carbuncles.
Boils occur due to entrance of bacteria in the hair follicles or sweat glands. It can also be caused due to blood impurities. These boils usually develop on arms, legs and trunks. Various Ayurvedic cures and prescribe medicines are discussed in this article.
Ayurvedic view of Boils
This disease is believed to be caused by the vitiation in the body humors, vata, pitta and kapha, or an imbalance of all the three doshas.
Boils Treatment
Some Ayurvedic medicine for boils treatment are as follows –
- Kanchanara Guggulu — 2 pills should be taken twice a day.
- Kaishora Guggulu — 1 to 2 pills should be consumed twice or thrice daily.
- Nityanand Ras — 250 gm of this medicine should be mixed with honey and taken thrice a day.
- Maha Manjista Quatham — This is an oral liquid. 20 ml of this liquid should be taken with equal amount of water twice a day.
- Triphalachurna — 10 gms of powder mixed with 50 ml of hot water and should be taken at bedtime. This keeps the stomach clean and relieves constipation.
- Shatavari Ghritam — 5 to 10 ml of this ayurvedic mixture should be taken with milk.
- Charmardadi Tailam — This Ayurvedic oil is prescribed for external use.
Other beneficial Ayurvedic home remedies are as follows –
- Neem — A decoction prepared by neem leaves should be used to wash the boils.
- Almonds — Soak a few almonds in water, remove their skin and pound them with neem leaves and black peppercorns. Make into small balls. Take 1 or 2 balls with warm water. It works as a blood purifier.
- Turmeric — Turmeric is the oldest herb in Ayurveda for treatment of various diseases. A poultice made by turmeric and methi seeds can be tied twice a day. Turmeric powder can be roasted in low flame, add 4 to 5 tsp of water and make a paste. Apply this paste over the boils to release the pus and germs.
- Black pepper and ghee (clarified butter) should be mixed and applied over the affected skin.
