Are You Ready To face the Summer? Summer brings many health challenges. Ayurveda says, if you are living somewhere like Florida, which is warm most of the year, you can experience ‘Pitta-type Disorders’.
Ayurveda’s seasonal approach are very effective. Even if you are not aware of your doshas. You just need a proper self care routine and a diet. Skin disorders like – psoriasis, inflammations like – arthritis, anger (emotional imbalance), severe heat feeling etc. are very common in Summer. Ayurveda follows the law which states, ‘opposites can balance opposites’. So ‘heat-related disorders’ are treated by coolness. Coconut’s soothing and cooling properties are very popular.
Lets bring coconut into our summer routine daily.
- You can always consume coconuts in salads or smoothies. Add fresh, raw and shredded coconut.
- You can add shredded coconut to yogurt also.
- Coconut milk may be added to all our favorite recipes.
- Use coconut water for marinating all your grilled food like – meat, chicken, fish etc. which heats your body.
- Abhyanga (performing self-massage daily) is needed in your daily routine. Use Brahmi Coconut oil (soothing oil for all Pitta doshas, calms and clears the mind, maintains peace, increases intelligence).
- Coconut oil is a very good moisturizer. Use it after shower while you are damp.
- Brahmi Coconut oil can be massaged onto feet at night before bed.
- Coconut Oil is a very good sunscreen. It prevents day burning in the sun and also prevents heating of internal organs that produce heat.
- After a day in the sun, massage your skin in circular motion by applying oil generously. Take a warm shower and apply as little soap as possible.
- Mix little lavender oil to the coconut oil. This is the best medicine to treat sunburns.
The results of using coconut in your everyday life is cumulative in nature, i.e.- Use it more to get better results.
