Strawberry is a member of rose family and is usually cultivated in the temperate region. It is perennial herb is famous for it sweet fruit of red color.
Strawberries cause allergy because they have proteins of various kinds which trigger allergy. Actually the immune system of our body recognises these protein as foreign elements which results in allergy. Few signs which can indicate the presence of allergy are diarrhea, rashes, hives etc.

- The allergy of strawberry results in oral allergy symptoms like swelling and itching in the mouth, lips, palate, throat, watery eyes, sneezing, runny nose.
- This allergy will show some symptoms on skin like you can have rashes on your skin, hive formation can be there on your skin. This allergy can also trigger asthmatic symptoms.
- Some symptoms of strawberry allergy can be very severe like continuous vomiting, cramping in the abdominal part, diarrhea etc.
- Sometimes this allergy can show some life threatening symptoms like wheezing, swelling in the throat etc. All these symptoms can create a lot of trouble in the breathing process which can even pose a threat to life also.
Causes For Strawberry Allergy:
The exact cause for the strawberry to result in allergy is not clearly known. According to the scientists the allergy is caused due to the red color of the strawberry. The studies claim that strawberries have a protein which is very much similar to an allergic protein called as birch protein. It is because of this protein only that the allergy is caused.
Whenever an allergic person eats a strawberry this protein is also automatically taken in. The body of that allergic person treats this protein as a foreign element. As the result of this, the immune system of the body reacts in the form of allergy to get rid of it.
