- Ingredients like dextrin, dextrates and maltodextrin are the source of corn so be careful with ingredients starting with “dex.”
- It is better for you to avoid a food which contains sugar like sweetened cereals as maximum of sweeteners contains corn sugars.
- Prefer using corn free baking powder which is easily available in the market.
- Instead of using cornstarch you can use potato starch or arrowroot for thickening soups, gravies and sauces.
- Avoid products like vegetable gum, vegetable starch or food starch as they might contain corn.
- Ensure that your cosmetics and toiletries are devoid of corn syrup. Even check your prescribed medications and also the over-the-counter medicines.
- Adhesives on envelopes and stamps might contain corn and this can flare up the reactions in sensitive people. It is advisable for you to not to lick them.
- Often it is observed that plastic wraps, plastic paper and cups are coated with corn oil. Hence be careful while using them.
- Increase your Vitamin C intake but remember that Vitamin C is often derived from corn.
