As we all know about the severity of the peanut allergies and unfortunately it’s on rising. Basically, those persons, allergic to peanuts, generally experience a wide-ranging reaction starting from minor irritation to a life-threatening reaction called anaphylaxis.
But recently a study has suggested that there is one form of immunotherapy that may prevent individuals from suffering from peanut allergies. This kind of immunotherapy is likely to come into existence within five years.
Check Out What Research Studies Suggest
According to one medical journal called “Lancer”, written by Dr. Wesley Burks, a food allergy expert at the Duke University Medical Center, a solution to peanut allergies may be forthcoming.
“I think there’s some type of immunotherapy that will be available in five years. And the reason I say that is that there are multiple types of studies that are ongoing now,” wrote Burks.
Dr, Burks has suggested that the therapy can change a person’s response to peanuts from the allergic to the non-allergic state. It can be done in several ways including applying engineered peanut proteins as it is done by immunotherapy or can be done by Chinese herbal medicine.
Basically wondering about the rise of peanut allergies in the last few years, he has highlighted a theory that is known as the “hygiene hypothesis”, which actually suggests that a child should not get little exposure to infectious suggests during childhood days. Basically too little exposure to germs makes one’s immunity system too sensitive to deal with any germs.
