About 36 million Americans suffer from seasonal allergies. The Asthma and Allergy Foundation conducted a research to identify the most challenging cities to live for people suffering with seasonal allergies. According the report, there is no place in the United States where you can be safe from seasonal allergies.
“We started doing this report to find places where people with allergies could go. The answer is, there is nowhere you can go,” said foundation spokeswoman Angel Waldron.
According to Waldron, a place with low pollen count can have a high mold count. Hence, even if you move to a new area, you might not be completely free from allergies. However, allergy testing and proper management of the allergies will enable people suffering with seasonal allergies to live a comfortable life wherever they go.
The Top 5 Challenging Capitals to Live with Allergies:
The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America has announced its 2008 Fall allergy Capitals. The Allergy Capitals, an annual research project, ranks the cities which are most challenging to live for people suffering with seasonal allergies. The top 5 challenging capitals to live with seasonal allergies are:
- Greensboro, NC
- Greenville, SC
- Little Rock, AR
- Raleigh-Durham, NC
- Jackson, MS
According to the research, the overall pollen concentrations have also increased in the top allergy cities. Also, more than 50% of population of the United States lives in the top 100 Allergy Capitals, according to this year’s report.
During the fall, to escape outdoor allergies, people may prefer staying indoors. However, indoor allergies such as dust mites and pet dander can cause allergies. Indoor and outdoor allergens combined can be a major challenge for people suffering with allergies. Hence, allergy testing and proper management of allergies is the best way to cope with allergies.
