Follow these simple steps to do a potato fasting:
- Firstly, choose and select potatoes that are small in size, organically grown and a little heavy than the actual size. Do not buy the potatoes if they are discoloured or have green and brown spots.
- For about two to four days, eat nothing but potatoes for all the three meals. Have them steamed, baked, mashed, roasted or even juice them. But, never have them fried.
- You can season the potatoes with mint, chives, turmeric, cumin, fennel, dill, paprika, caraway, nutmeg, garlic and rosemary. While preparing mashed potatoes, you can either add potato juice or any herbal tea, but, do not add milk.
- Make sure that you do not peel off the skin of the potatoes, as it consists 75% of potatoes minerals.
- Drink a lot of water and even herbal tea. You can prepare tea with potato peels.
- During your potato fasting, drinking herbal teas like dandelion, yarrow, nettle, corn silk and burdock are excellent for treating ailments.
- At the end of the fast, to help cleanse the colon from toxins, use enema or internal bath.
- Once you are done with the diet, do not break your fast by eating heavy food. Break it by eating just fruits and vegetables on the first day. Later on increase it with soups, red meat and grains. Increase your food intake gradually.
