- After eating wait for at least 1-2 hours before starting the sauna. A sauna heat can cause cramps and if the meal is heavy, more the cramps.
- Drink a lot of water. You are required to drink a minimum of 8 ounces per day.
- It is advisable not to wear any kind of jewellery as there is a probability of them getting heated. This is done to avoid burning of the skin.
- During a sauna, make sure that you carry an extra towel in hand so that you can mop yourself. And, wear as minimal as possible.
- During the sauna, avoid wearing any kind of foot wear because it might cause overheating.
- Make a note of the length of time you are able to sit in the sauna. For beginners, start by sitting for 15 minutes at the lower benches. At any point of the sauna, if you feel light headed or faint, make sure that you leave the sauna and rehydrate.
- After the sauna, take a cool water shower. You can use a body sponge or brush to rinse the skin from all toxins.
- It is advisable not to use any lotions, soaps and shampoos after the sauna as it will only add back the toxins to the skin.
- You can resume back to your daily activities or if you are feeling tired and weak, rest for a while and then get back.
- After the sauna drink at least 1 or 2 cups of water.
