Run on the treadmill
Most hotels or even ships have a gym or at least a treadmill machine. So, make use of the tread mill facility that is available. Run on the treadmill for a few hours at least on alternate days. This is sufficient enough to maintain optimal fitness levels.

In case the hotel you checked in does not have a treadmill or gym facility scout for a local gym. Make it a point to visit that local gym at least once in two days.
Go for cross training
Just go for cross training. Find a local swimming pool. Just swim there. Biking is good as well. Or else go for kick boxing or yoga. Alternative measures such as these which are different form the running routine, but are equally efficient in terms of energy output are quite helpful during traveling.
Run in the morning
Running in the morning helps you a great deal, though it is not ideal. It will not interfere with your sightseeing. So, go for it, as it will also enrich your travel experience during the rest of the day. The higher the fitness, higher will be your ability to make most out of your travel experience.
Stop in the local running shop
Generally, the local running shops are the most ideal places to visit for any runner while traveling. Here you will be able to find other running enthusiasts. In fact most of the times, these shops are run by avid runners. So, it is the best way of finding the local routes, especially the ones which are nearer either to your hotel or the place which you would like to visit.
