Weed is the most widely used and abused illicit drug in the world. It is known by many other names like pot, cannabis, marijuana, and some others, depending on which part of the world they come from and in what form they are sold. Weed is smoked while some other forms may be chewed or even brewed into a tea.
Can smoking weed kill you?
Weed is one of the softer and milder drugs in the sense that it is not as strong as some other drugs like heroin and cocaine. This is why it almost never happens that an individual overdoses on weed because you would need an extremely high quantity of weed and smoke it real fast for an overdose. So using weed will not directly kill you as there is almost no chance of an overdose.
Even though you may not die of a weed overdose, it may increase your chances of dying of other diseases. Although not confirmed, it has been seen to increase the risk of heart disease, heart attacks and stroke by as much as thirty percent in addicts.
There are other ways that you can get killed because of smoking weed. These are not directly due to weed but due to the effect of weed on the body and mind.
Weed has an intoxicating effect on the brain. Due to this, the user may not be in full control of himself/herself after smoking weed. In such a state, such an individual may end up doing something harmful to themselves or those around. This “high” may cause accidents if they are driving while or just after having a joint. They might also use knives and other such items that can cause grievous harm and can also be fatal in some cases.
There have even been some cases where individuals have fallen off terraces and balconies in this state of “high” due to lack of control over the body.
Therefore, even though weed may be milder as compared with other drugs, it is still very harmful and should not be used or abused.
