Teething process is considered as one of the miles stones in the lives of babies. This process starts in the third or fourth month and can even last up to second or third year till the baby grows out the first set of teeth.
For most of the babies teething is a painful and a long process. Sometimes it may cause fevers, fussiness, colds and diarrhea. The dentures in the mouth are made up of porcelain synthetic material and the gums and the soft tissues in the mouth are subjected to irritations, because they are not used to such kind of materials.
They may even develop ulcers, wounds and sores inside the mouth. Teething cause headaches and aching of the jaw in some cases. It may also cause drooling in the babies as the teeth break out of the gums. This process may swollen up the gums and when the teeth starts to appear small bumps are formed around the gum.
Bad Breath and Teething:
Teething also causes bad breath in some cases and this unpleasant odor can be caused due to a variety of things such as toys the kids play with. If the toys and the teething rings, teeth cleaner or the pacifier are not cleaned properly causes bad breath in children. Dehydration and the small particles stuck in between the teeth cause bad breath.

How to Get Rid of Bad Breath:
- Brushing daily even if the child has few teeth prevents bad breath and parents should help the child in flossing which helps in clearing the food particles trapped between the teeth.
- If the bad breath in the baby is due to the formation of tartar which is the plaque then consult a dentist for a proper clean up.
- Tartar formation is caused even in small children if they are fed with bad food and by not following oral hygiene.
- Mouth of the baby can get dried due to the sucking on the thumb and leads to bad breath eventually. Parents should break the habit of thumb sucking and should make sure that the baby drinks plenty of water to keep the mouth moist.
- Infections inside the mouth can cause bad breath too therefore you should consult a doctor to control the infection and improve the child’s overall health.
