Clear sparkling eyes are a sign of good health.
Here are few tips you could use to keep your eyes healthy:
- Make sure you get good sleep and exercise.
- Read in good light.
- Eye strain causes lines and wrinkles and therefore must be avoided.
- To keep your eyes healthy eat carrots, spinach, fenugreek leaves and citrus fruits. Drink enough milk.
- To lend brightness to your eyes, begin your day by splashing cold water on them. At the end of the day, wash your eyes with lukewarm water and follow with a splash of cold water.
- Relieve eyestrain by simple exercises. Roll eyes up, down, left, right, close eyes and roll them in circular motion, then open them. Repeat rotating in the opposite direction. Then rest with closed eyes and keep a slice of cucumber on each eyelid for about 10 minutes.
- To revive tired and over strained eyes, add a few drops of eau-de-cologne to chilled water. Soak cotton pads and place them on your closed eyelids. Relax in a darkened room for about 10 minutes.
- To brighten sleepy and dull-looking eyes, place cotton pads soaked in a mixture of ice water and rose water on closed eyelids and relax.
- To soothe and freshen tired eyes, place slices of watermelon or fresh cucumber on them and rest for a few minutes.
- You can use warm tea leaves put in muslin bags as eye packs. Do not throw the muslin bags. Just empty the tea leaves when done with wash the muslin bags and put them for future use.
- Full protection of the eyes is very essential; for sunny days sunglasses are a must. They prevent squint lines, sun glare, dust and germs. But, the lens should be tested for distortion.
