Does drinking water to lose weight work? Many people are confused about this question. But, several studies show that drinking water can indeed help in losing weight. Many diets also include drinking more water as a part of their program. Water has zero calories, it is refreshing and gives you a full feeling. So, if you are on a weight loss regimen, make sure you drink eight glasses of water daily.

How Does Water Help in Weight Loss?

    • It curbs hunger: Many people think they are hungry when they are actually thirsty. So, whenever you feel hungry ask yourself if you are thirsty. Drinking water also gives a full feeling, and you would be less likely to reach for a snack or binge if you drink water regularly
    • It replaces sugary drinks: Sodas, sugary drinks, shakes are all high calorie foods. By drinking them, you would be adding considerable number of calories. On the other hand water has zero calories and is beneficial in many ways. Drinking water regularly would enable you to replace sugary drinks and cut down on your calories
    • Boosts Your metabolism:   A study from Berlin’s Franz-Volhard Clinical Research Center showed that water increased the metabolism in men and women by 30%. Increased metabolism would mean increased calorie burn and weight loss.

One theory suggests that drinking water cools down the body. When the body tries to stable the body temperature, it uses up calories. Thus this can help in burning calories and weight loss. In addition to weight loss, drinking water helps in digestive processes, improves skin tone and other body functions.

Though people may have varied opinions about drinking water to lose weight, it can surely curb hunger and encourage you to replace high-calorie drinks. Water is one of the best ways to keep your mouth busy without adding calories. It should be remembered that along with water intake, regular exercising and a healthy diet can be a good way to lose weight and stay fit.
