Break out of obesity and your sedentary lifestyle. Put on your walking shoes and get walking folks. You don’t need a personal trainer, you don’t need to drive all your way to that expensive gym in your area.
Walking is the best exercise. It is easy and it is free with no expenses at all. With the kind of lifestyle we have most of us end up walking just 3000 steps a day. But if we walk 10,000 steps a day, we will walk towards improved health and fitness and of course weight loss.
- If you cannot allot separate timings for a walk, you can try these tips —
- Take the stairs instead of the lift
- Park your car to the farthest end and walk towards your destination.
- Have a quick lunch and spend the rest of the time of your lunch break walking.
- If you have time constraint pick up a treadmill, place it in front of your TV and walk as you watch your favorite show.
- Do not use a remote control, get up walk to the TV and change the channel.
- Walk your dog.
In the evening, have an early dinner. About half an hour later, you can have a brisk walk. If you are one of those early risers, mornings are the best times to go for a walk. If not that dusk should be the alternative.
Do not look to hit the target of 10,000 steps right from the first day. Control your diet first, start eating healthy and start walking for 30 minutes for a week. Gradually increase your speed. Then increase your time from 30 minutes to 45 minutes. Once you have made your mind up, make it a habit and don’t quit mid-way through. It’s a slow and steady process, so keep investing time and effort in walking and you will reap benefits in the end.
