Dinacharya is word in Sanskrit, which means daily routine. Ayurveda stresses on to follow the dinacharya to lead a disease free and healthy life. ‘Dina’ means day and ‘charya’ means to follow. Thus, following dinacharya one can live a pleasant, healthy and happy life.
Based on the cycle of three doshas โ vata, pitta and kapha, our dinacharya are divided into morning, noon, evening, dinner time and sleeping. According to Ayurveda, one should get up 2 hours prior to sunrise and young ones, sick and old people are exception to this. Ayurvedic Dinacharya Rules
Ayurvedic dinacharya comprises a combination of activities which should be performed daily. This comprises of waking up in the early hours of morning, colon cleansing, bathing and taking meals at fixed times, physical workouts, kinds to people you meet, daily thoughts, actions and words etc.
Ayurveda believes a person should not spend energy beyond one’s level. It also emphasizes on the mingling with high quality people who possess qualities like reliability, love, truthfulness, compassion. Your thoughts should be pure and should not harm others.
Following rules should be followed to maintain dinacharya
Food โ
- Junk food should not be eaten. Healthy food should be take which can bring a healthy heart and body.
- Ayurveda stresses on vegetarian foods.
- Whenever you feel hungry, then only you should eat.
- Eating for pleasure and snacks between meals can upset the digestive system.
- For complete digestion of food, it takes nearly 20 hours. Thus, we should allow time to our stomach to completely digest the food before we take the next meal.
- You should take only as much food as required by the body.
Alcohol –
- Alcohol can be taken as a medicine, but if taken in excess amounts, it can upset your mind and body in various manners.
- Thus, little amounts of alcohol is proven to be good for digestion, according to Ayurveda.
Sleeping Habits –
- Early to bed and early to rise is a key mantra in Ayurveda for a healthy body.
- Thus, one should wake up 2 hours prior to sunrise, take bath, do Suryanamaskar and follow proper dinacharya.
Thought, Words and Actions –
- Your thoughts should be controlled, because uncontrolled thoughts can provoke anger, bad actions and words.
- Thus, you will waste a lot of energy in dealing with jealousy and hatred.
- Hence, one should stay positive in thoughts, words and actions, which can fill your mind with happiness and overall a good healthy body.
- Do good for other without expecting anything in return from them.
Mingling with People –
- You should choose the people with whom you can mingle.
- If you are meeting people with negative thoughts, you will also think in the same manner and get trapped in trouble always.
- Thus, you should meet with people with high quality values and who keep a positive approach towards life to stay healthy and happy.
Maintain Good Relationships with God
- Once in a day, you should pray to your God and for which Ayurveda had designed the best time in the morning.
- You should also thank you God for giving everything you have in your life in the night time.
- This is also a good practice to stay mentally happy and healthy.
