    Ayurvedic Cure for Prostate Enlargement

    The Ayurvedic name for prostate enlargement is Ashtheela. Prostrate enlargement is the problem which affects only the males. This gland is a part of male genitals and it surrounds the urinary bladder opening. The function of prostate gland is to secrete the liquid which constitutes the major part of seminal fluid.

    Thus, an affected person feels problem during urination, because the swollen prostate gland puts pressure on bladder opening. Chandraprabha vati and shilajit are some important Ayurvedic treatments for enlarged prostate. Various other Ayurvedic home remedies to cure this condition are discussed in this article.

    Ayurvedic View of Prostate Enlargement

    This diseases is believed to develop from vitiation in one of the 3 body humors — vata, pitta and kapha. Or it may be a consequence of the distortion of all the 3 body humors.

    Ayurvedic Treatments for Prostate Enlargement

    • Shilajit — Take 1 gram shilajit twice a day with warm milk.
    • Take 50 ml juice of petha and add 1 gram Yavkshara. Take this 2 to 3 times with some sugar.
    • Prepare a decoction of Erand and Yavkshara roots. Take 30 ml twice daily.
    • Take approximately 10 to 20 ml purified castor oil mixed in water or milk twice.
    • Soak 2 to 3 dried anjeer in water overnight. In the morning mash the anjeer and drink the mixture. Continue for a few days.
    • Dip a small woolen blanket in a cow’s warm urine. Foment the bladder with this for relief.
    • Prepare a mixture by pounding together equal amounts of mishri and cumin seeds. Take this with water twice a day.

    • Bee pollen
    • Green Tea
    • Pumpkin seeds
    • Uva Ursi
    • Shatavari
    • Punarnava
    • Kanchanara
    • Gokshura
    • Guggulu

    Characteristic Symptoms of Prostate Enlargement

    • The enlargement of the prostate gland causes an obstruction in the normal exit of urine from the bladder.
    • An increased frequency and urgency in passing urine, there may also be pain during urination.
    • The patient tends to pass urine many times at night and in many cases there is a feeling of burning along with urine passage.
    • A persistent pain in genitals and the lower back.
    • Recurrent urinary tract infections, blood may be present in urine in advanced stages.
    • On rectal examination, the prostate gland is enlarged and tender to touch. On examining the abdomen, the bladder is generally found to be distended.
