Spring equinox is a important time that comes once in a year and is considered to be sacred in many cultures. Equinox means “equal night” and Spring Equinox means the time when both the day and night are of equal length on the equator. A spring equinox fast means being on fast to mark this great event of rebirth and renewal.

Spring equinox fast is an effective, simple fast that helps in cleansing the whole body and mind. But before going to begin the fast, you should seek a doctor’s advice.

The following article explains on how to do a spring equinox fasting:

    • Before starting the spring equinox fasting, go for a complete digestive tract cleanse either with enema or an internal bath. If you doesn’t want to go by these two techniques, take a laxative tea instead. But this is less effective than internal bath.
    • Foods to be taken from 8 a.m to 12 noon:
Eat foods such as lemons, apples, oranges, limes, grapefruit, kiwis, herbal teas and water. Take only these foods either in solid or liquid forms as much as you can.
    • Foods to be taken from 12 noon to 8 p.m:
Take foods such as beets, asparagus, cabbage, broccoli, dandelion leaves, cauliflower, olive oil, garlic, sprouts, parsley, herbal teas and water. These can be roasted, baked, steamed or taken raw.
    • Continue being on the spring equinox fast for 3 to 10 days.
    • After the third day of fasting, start taking laxative teas twice a day i.e in the morning and evening. This helps the body in eliminating the waste matter. The body undergoes this spring cleaning and removes all the toxins from the deep tissues and organs to get expelled.
    • Break the spring equinox fast by adding certain foods to your diet. Foods that can be taken are spring grains, such as wheat, barley, rye or millet. Continue taking a well balanced diet.
    • After the body is purifies from all the toxins and wastes, you can add on a regular exercise to your lifestyle.
