Fast 5 is not a diet, it is a way of eating. According to the site dedicated to it, fast 5 is all about eating within five consecutive hours and fasting for rest of the hours of the day. ‘Eat’ does not mean you have to go on eating constantly. You need to eat as much as you are hungry for. You can eat whatever you want but remember only that much as you can. Let us know more about this in this article.
The Origin of Fast 5
The fast 5 diet was developed by Bert Herring. In his book “The Fast 5 Diet and the Fast 5 Lifestyle” he mentions this method of fast as a way to lose weight.
According to his theory: “… fat cells cannot burn fat as fuel. Restricting calorie consumption to the five hour a day is intended to increase the time when the intestinal or digestive tract is empty. So no fuel is provided by digestion. During the fasting phase insulin is at lower levels and the body is directly dependent of the release of stored fat and glycogen for energy. This extending the intervals between the meals.”
He suggests that there are some benefits of intermittent fasting and calorie restriction.
A brief procedure or process of Fast 5 diet:
This period of 5 consecutive hours of eating is called “Eating Window”. Then you have to keep fast for nineteen hours daily. Herring suggests eating window of 5pm to 10pm, but it may be set according to one’s convenience. Remaining nineteen continuous hours is the key to the diet’s effect.
Moreover, Fast 5 diet does not specify any forbidden foods. It allows the person with any dietary preference as he/she wishes.
