Bulging of eyeballs is an eye abnormality. It is characterized by the abnormal protrusion of one or both eye balls. This is also known as proptosis. Some people have naturally prominent eyes. This gives them a popeyed or “goggly” appearance. Prominent eyes are not a symptom of disease. It is usually a family trait. But bulging eyes are not the same as prominent eyes.
If you have bulging eyes, then you should consult an ophthalmologist immediately. Any changes in the position, shape or prominence of the eyes may indicate an underlying disease. This requires immediate medical attention. Bulging of a single eye is a grave condition and requires immediate evaluation.
Normally, no visible white should be there between the upper eyelid and the top of the iris. Iris is the colored part of the eye. If you see any white in this area, it strongly indicates that there is abnormal eye bulging. In most cases, this condition goes unnoticed until it is in advance stages.

Advice for Bulging Eyes
The “set” or positioning of the eyes varies from individual to individual. This trait is usually inherited. Major abnormalities can be corrected with reconstructive or plastic surgery.
If you notice any change in the appearance of your eyes, consult an ophthalmologist as soon as possible. Especially if changes in movement, prominence and shape of the eyes are noticed. Also spots on the eye and color change should be reported.
If your eyes are healthy but their appearance is not pleasing, then try to consult a makeup artist. Careful use of eye shadow can make a huge difference.
