    Pediatric Asthma

    Pediatric asthma refers to a type of asthma in children. Asthma is a type of disease in which the airway muscles swell and due to the swelling the tubes get blocked and air does not pass freely. Asthma is very common in children and they get very easily prone. Every year there are a lot of children that get hospitalised. Here are a few causes that trigger asthma very easily.

    Causes of asthma in children

    • Smoking
    • Exercise
    • Dust
    • Animal hair
    • Change in weather
    • Medication
    • Viral
    • Pollen
    • Chemicals in air

    Over the past few years there have been a lot of children fallen sick. There are a few factors like an increase in population growth, less number of trees, increase in pollution and water contamination that have been responsible for the trigger of asthma in children. These factors have also reduced the immunity in children.
    As compared to adults children have a narrow airway tube. Therefore it becomes even more difficult for them to breath if the tube swells. Since children are very sensitive they are more prone to a lot of problems and asthma may trigger suddenly in them. It is always good to know what are the symptoms and how you can help your child in getting over with this diseases.

    Symptoms of pediatric asthma

    • Wheezing sound
    • Problem in breathing
    • Feeling breathless
    • Conjecture in the chest
    • Severe cough
    • Rapid breathing
    • Lips and face turning blue
    • Excessive sweating

    In such situations its always best to consult a child specialist. The doctor may perform a few test like x-ray of the chest, test for the function of the lungs, blood test, Eosinophil count and arterial blood gas. The best way to prevent such problems is to go for monthly check ups, keep a check on the above symptoms of your child and take proper medication.
