How is cardiac asthma caused ?
When there is a blockage in the heart and if not treated on time may be life threatening. In this it reduces the efficiency in pumping the heart and which increases the level of fluids in the lungs. The fluid narrows the air passage and causes wheezing.
Symptoms of cardiac asthma
- Breathing problem with wheezing
- Increase in the heart rate and high blood pressure
- Uneasiness in the body
- Swelling in the ankles
- Waking up breathless
- Excising
The fluids in the lungs that cause heart failure lead to coughing, wheezing and breathlessness which is similar to asthma. Pulmonary edema and cardiac asthma are signs of heart failure and for such conditions medical help is required.
Treatment for cardiac asthma
There are people who suffer from cardiac asthma they would have to take medication from his doctor but if the is a hole in between heart chambers or problem caused in the valve of the heart which is not functioning properly then a surgery has to be performed. In this the treatment can be focused in controlling the inflow and the blood in the left side of the ventricle. Some people also take pills to re leave the lungs from excess fluid. The heart is controlled and thus coughing, wheezing and breathlessness also stops. People who suffer from cardiac asthma respond to supplementary oxygen, treatment when the heart fails to function and bronchodilators.
