Asthma is something that is common among adults and children. Its is the tightening of the airway muscles which prevents the air to pass through the lungs thus choking you. An asthma patient feels breathless, starts sweating and has continuous cough with a wheezing sound. Asthma cough may be chronic and this should certainly would need an immediate medical attention.
Chronic Asthma Cough: An asthma cough can happen because of some infection. The cough may be like a defence mechanism as through coughing the body would take out mucus with other foreign particles from the body. A person having cough for more than 2-3 weeks is not a good sign. For a person who smokes a lot and to get a chronic cough is quite expected but for a non smoker its not normal. The cough generally occurs in the night. There are other reasons to get an asthma cough.
Pneumonia: In this a person may have a history in various cases like smoking, Alcohol abuse, being exposed to people who have had pneumonia or any kind of illness and risk with regard to the type of occupation.
Chronic Bronchitis: In bronchitis the airway swells in the lungs and the problem keeps coming on and off. The main cause of this problem is smoking and the more a person smokes the he is likely to get bronchitis.
Pertusis: This is a severe bacterial infection and is highly contagious and causes severe coughing. It is the problem in the upper respiratory system. When a person who is infected with this problem sneezes or coughs, tiny drops of water from the mouth or the nose contains bacteria gets mixed in the air. This is how another person inhaling the same air gets infected and this infection lasts for 6 weeks.
