Anaerobic respiration is a method of producing usable energy in the absence of oxygen. It can be called as the respiration without oxygen. It is the process of releasing energy by using the food molecules like glucose. Anaerobic respiration does not require any kind of oxygen.
Anaerobic respiration is mainly seen in some of the plants and animals. It is used for a short period of time to produce energy from glucose and other food molecules.
Anaerobic respiration in Human
Human body can produce energy through anaerobic respiration. It can produce energy in situations where there is no frequent flow of oxygen to the respiratory system. It respires anaerobically while a person is in a sprint. Anaerobic respiration is made possible with the help of muscles in this condition.
Anaerobic respiration in human is not efficient as in plants and animals. But it can release energy faster making the people to breathe faster soon after finishing a race or a sprint. The human body breathes quicker than normal to bring back the oxygen balance in the body.

The two main types of anaerobic respiration are:
Alcoholic Fermentation: It occurs in plants such as yeast.
Lactic Acid Fermentation: It is found in plants and animals. It does not release carbon dioxide.
