Today, there are many gym packages and diet plans that promise weight loss. These can be confusing and their effectiveness is also questionable. Instead, learn some effective ways to reduce calories and shed weight. This article gives you tips to do just that.

    Things to Avoid
Starving to reduce weight is not advisable at all. Starving slows down your metabolism and is thus harmful in the long run. After losing weight, if you start eating normally, the body will have a tough time digesting the food, because of the slowed metabolic rate. This can lead to vitamin deficiency and weight gain. Adopting a diet which has only certain proteins and carbohydrates can also be harmful, as it could cause deficiencies.

    Reducing Calories with Exercise
Exercising is one of the best ways to reduce calories. You can exercise at a gym or devise a personal training regimen to work out at home. Effective exercises are skipping and swimming. Weight training also tones specific muscles.

    Effective Diet
Reduce fatty, greasy and fried food items to a minimum. Consume healthy sources of fats such as fish which contains omega 3. Do not consume too much carbohydrates or proteins. Consume only the amount needed daily by your body. Include healthy foods such as vegetable salads and fruits in your daily diet. In the evening, resist the temptation to eat chips or other junk food. Instead, eat fruits or yogurt as snacks. Don’t add sugar to your fruit juices.

How to Reduce Calories at Work
Avoid drinking too much tea or coffee in the office. Instead, drink a few cups of green tea at work. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. If you are feeling sleepy, avoid taking recourse to caffeine. Instead, go for a walk or do some light stretching.

How to Reduce Calories While Eating Out
Go to restaurants which serve multiple cuisines. Sea food is healthy as it is not high on calories. Do not consume too much alcohol. In fact, substitute alcohol with healthy drinks such as lime juice. For starters, eat a green salad. Avoid dessert if that is possible.
