    Tips for Preventing IT Band Syndrome among Runners

    How do you prevent IT band Syndrome?
    One of the major and the common causes of pain in the knees in due to IT band. IT band syndrome occurs in the lower thigh and along the outer leg. Preventing IT band syndrome can be made possible by doing certain exercises when they have knee pain. There are many tips for preventing IT band syndrome.

    Tips for preventing IT band Syndrome
    The following are the important tips that are helpful for preventing IT band syndrome.You can prevent the knee pain by doing IT band stretching exercises. The common IT band stretching exercises are listed below.

    • Standing IT Band Exercises
      You can do IT band exercises by standing. Standing IT band exercises helps in reducing the muscle pains in thighs. You can go for various types of squatting exercises along with the IT band exercises.
    • Crossover Squat
      Crossover squat can also be done to prevent IT band syndrome among runners. This exercise is done by crossing legs while standing.
    • Foam Roller to Stretch IT band Exercises
      Foam roller might be very painful but, helps in preventing IT band syndrome as tissues are released while doing this exercises.
    • Using Proper Foot Wear
      When there is no proper foot wear then there are huge chances for the knee pain to occur. So, this is one of the major reasons runners are asked to use proper foot wear while running. Using proper footwear might help in preventing IT band syndrome.
    • Replacing Shoes
      When you use the same shoes continuously for every workout then, you might have to face many problems in your feet. This is one of the reason runners are advised to have extra pair of running shoes so that they can replace them during the workouts and the training period.
    • Cross Training
      Cross training exercises might help you in preventing IT band syndrome. Most of the runners go for cross training workouts as it helps in muscle strengthening.
    • Resting
      A few of the runners might start their workouts despite injuries even before they recover completely. So, rest is important if you are injured to prevent from any further injuries. If you have any pain in your knees then it might lead to IT band syndrome.
    • IT Band Strengthening Exercises
      One of the best of ways that you can reduce the risk of these injuries is by strengthening hip rotators. One of the easiest way to perform the hip rotators is by doing one-leg squat. One leg squat serves better for knee pain.
